Professional Responsibilities
Year 3
My professional responsibilities as the special education teacher for ICT Marine Science A (one section), ICT Regents Living Environment (2 sections), and ICT Chemistry (1 section) include but are not limited to the following statements.
1. I plan curriculum with co-teachers weekly for two sections of Living Environment, 1 section of chemistry, & 1
section of Marine Science.
2. I've attended 2 portfolio meetings and created a tenure portfolio of my 2 1/2 years in the HHH School District.
3. I attended the co-teaching seminar/workshop in October with my three co-teachers.
4. I schedule 1:1 planning time with my three co-teachers weekly.
5. I instruct classes each day for Marine, L.E., and Chemistry.
6. I'm learning the NYS regents curriculum for Chemistry.
7. I complete half of all the test, lab, and classwork grading for 2 sections of L.E., all of the grading for Marine Science, and
the majority of the grading for Chemistry.
8. I plan, create, and implement whole class and small group instruction for chemistry, chemistry lab groups and living
environment students.
9. I provide extra help on Mondays for L.E. students and Tuesdays for Chemistry students.
10. I provide extra support for L.E. and Chemistry students during off periods 3rd, 7th, and 8th on A days.
11. I help grade midterms for all students in 2 ICT L.E. sections, and 1 Chemistry section.
12. I help create and implement review material for L.E. students and Chemistry students for midterm and regents exams.
13. I take regular attendance for Biology, Marine, and Chemistry.
14. I remain up-to-date with new emails, meetings, and procedures of the building.
15. I maintain and initiate up-to-date emails from colleagues about students and student planning for my SORs.
16. I maintain a consistent schedule which includes planning meetings with collaborative teachers of all the students and
classes that I teach.
17. As a special education teacher, I'm responsible to meet the needs of each of my students by working regularly on IEP's
goals and objectives in Marine Science A, ICT Biology, and ICT Chemistry.
18. I am the TOR for 8 students and I maintain regular communication with the student's teachers and parents.
19. I schedule and conduct 10-week meetings for any students who need it and have it on their IEP.
20. I collaborate regularly with my colleagues during my professional development period for all of my ICT classes.
21. I plan for and schedule Annual Review Meetings for my SORs.
22. I write IEP's for my 8 SORs.
23. I plan and conduct Meet-The-Teacher Night for my classes.
24. I plan and conduct Parent-Teacher Conferences.
25. I proctor Midterms and Regents exams.
26. I attend special education department meetings monthly at CO
27. I attend all faculty meetings here at East.
28. I update IEP goals and objectives quarterly.
29. I update progress reports quarterly.
30. I conduct annual review testing for my SORs.
31. I write and conduct 3 formal, pre, and post observations a year.
32. I have gone to the end-of-year untenured teacher orientation for the last two years.
33. I am a CSE special education teacher for varying committee meetings at DO.
34. I provide students with their test and program modifications for all of my L.E., Marine A, and Chemistry students.
35. I complete homebound instruction for the students on my roster.
